Carl Jacobsen’s Correspondence Archive

Carl as a husband and father

The family letters complete the image of Carl Jacobsen as a multifaceted person.

Carl Jacobsen wrote many letters to his wife, Ottilia, and their children, Theodora, Helge, Vagn and Paula. These personal letters paint an interesting picture of Carl Jacobsen as a family man, and in combination with his correspondence about art and the brewery business, they complete the image of this multifaceted man.
Now for the first time, all the letters from Carl Jacobsen to Ottilia, Helge and Vagn in the Glypotek archive are made available to the public. His letters to his daughters Theodora and Paula will be added later.
